Space Coast Oratorio Society does it again! Presenting Verdi’s Requiem

plusplusplus.JPGAs printed in the Program Brochure:

“The Space Coast Oratorio Society was formed in 2008, following the passing of the late Dr. Vernon Boushell.

The Vision aarontakingapplause.JPGof the Space Coast Oratorio Society is to continue Dr. Boushell’s legacy and to further his vision.  By continuing to present to the people of Florida’s Space Coast communities music of an enduring and uplifting nature.  The facilities of Riverside Church will continue to hose these concerts, incorporating the talent of many participating churches, singers and musicians.”

Today at the Riverside Church where Giuseppe Verdi’s Requiem was performed to an overflowing audience by a collection of devoted and talented musicians from 14 different local Orchestras, Wind Ensembles, and Bands.  39 Church Choirs and Choir Organizations were represented in the Large Choral presentation.  All of these musicians came together to perform with Conductor, Aaron Collins.  Aaron Collins becoming more and more a well known name to musicians in the Brevard County area.  Can be found withchoir.JPGhis fingers and thumbs in more musical pies in the area than just about anyone I know.  Aaron is a musician (talented French Horn player), composer and conductor/guest conductor  with the Central Florida Winds, Central Florida Chamber Winds, the Orland Concert Band and I’m sure many more that remained unmentioned in this article.  While this journalist cannot do justice by Aaron, I do commend his ability to pull together such an ensemble to perform this intricate performance of Verdi’s Requiem.  The performance lasted just about two (2) hours with one intermission.
