Race to Witch Mountain, a Disney release

Published by srobbins at 12:03 pm under Movies, Race to Witch Mountain PG Edit This

Next Topic, a favorite of mine.  The Movies.  I took my Dad and  saw Race to Witch Mountain by Disney.  I was surprised what a great movie it turned out to be.  My Dad (with Alzheimer’s) loved the movie and even remembered what it was about hours later.  A true miracle for my Dad.  Yahoo Video gave this movie 4.9 stars against 5 stars.  I concur.  There really wasn’t a down side to this movie.  The movie was PG.  And the walk away from this movie is hopefulness for our planet.  I know sounds crazy.  But it is a really positive movie that has only a positive message to share.

Race to Witch Mountain was the top lead on Box Office polls for top revenue pulled in on midday Sunday.  Here are the stats from the Hollywood Insider.

1. Race to Witch Mountain — $6.8 mil
2. The Last House on the Left — $5.6 mil
3. Watchmen — $5.4 mil
4. Taken — $2.1 mil
5. Tyler Perry’s Madea Goes to Jail — $1.5 mil

If you’re Christian parents who fly off the handle with the word “Witch”.  I promise you there is not semblance of a “witch” anywhere in the movie.  The movie is about a mountain called Witch Mountain.  Which is a fictional mountain created by the Disney Imagineers.

Anyway, enjoy the movie and come back and let me know if you liked it!!

I was excited to hear another Witch Mountain movie, but then put back because The Rock was in it. Not that he’s a bad actor (he’s not the best), but Disney has a bad habit of putting famous people (not necessarily actors) in movies to make them more marketable. That, and sequels are not Disney’s strong point.
Anyway, saying that, I’m VERY glad to hear such a good review. Now I will definitely see it. Thanks!
