Beyonce’ Knowles coming of age with Sasha Fierce.

sashafierce.jpgIf I were a boy for even one day
I knew that Beyonce’ Knowles was going to be a great artist when I heard her sing this song (If I were a boy).  Now, do I need to mention that I’m not just talking about the artists on top of the charts, I’m talking great artists. .  . Aretha Franklin, Miles Davis, Tracy Chapman, etc.  And I’m telling you that the song by Beyonce’ Knowles is just the start of her transforming into the talented artist she was always born to become.

I’d roll out of bed in the morning
Beyonce’ Knowles has been in the public eye a long time.  Born to parents who both had ties to the music industry, the daughter of Mathew Knowles, a successful record manager and Tina Beyince’ a talented costume designer and hair stylist.  Beyonce’ demonstrated her talent as a young girl at the age of seven where she entered her first talent show, singing John Lennon’s “Imagine”.   She won a standing ovation from the audience then.   And continues to do so now.

And throw on what I wanted
That’s right I’m embracing Sasha Fierce, because I understand that this is not just her ego talking.  This is Beyonce’ taking the courage to be who she really is inside the showgirl, the pop artists.
And go drink beer with the guys
At the young age of eight, Beyonce’ began singing with groups performing rapping and dancing.   Soon they caught the eye of a West Coast R&B producer which led to their first major record deal.  Later, Beyonce’s’ father resigned from his job in 1995 and dedicated his full time for his family to train the group.   Soon after because of pressure brought on by the reduction of the Fathers’ salary Beyonce’s parents separated.  Beyonces’ mother contributed to the cause of promoting the girls  by designing all the costumes for the group which would soon be known as Destiny’s Child.

And chase after girls
After four years on the road as Destiny’s Child the group was signed to Columbia Records in late 1997.  The group later won the Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals and the Best R&B Song at the 2001 Grammy Awards for their signature song “Say my Name”.   Destiny’s Child’s Writing on the Wall album featuring “Say My Name” essentially became their break through album.  Later on, due to internal riffs in the group, Destiny’s child began their decline, their final album was released in 2004.  Beyonce’ continued to move forward focusing on her career and future engagements.

I’d kick it with who I wanted
Beyonce’ has continued to evolve into the performing artist she has always been.  Continuing to refine her skills and taking on more and more challenging roles.  Which leads us right up to her last release of “Sasha Fierce” her alter-ego’s name of October of 2008.

And I’d never get confronted for it
‘Cause they stick up for me

Many thanks to Beyonce’ for the use of her lyrics and to Wikipedia for the background information.
